This wouldn't be much of a studio website without some links to prove that I actually practice what I teach! My teaching is strongly informed by my performance/composition career and vice versa. I don't think it would ever be possible to separate the two.
The quickest way to observe me in my natural habitat as a pianist, composer, collaborator, and arranger is to visit and subscribe to my YouTube channel, which includes various playlists for my solo recordings, my collaborative recordings, my pedagogical compositions, my concert compositions, and performance demos for repertoire that my students are playing. My user ID is DiPaoloPiano or you may click this link.
I'll embed a couple of my favorites here on this page. Please let me know via the Contact page if you have trouble viewing them.
A highlight of my time in Cleveland was giving the world premiere of noted Cleveland-based composer H. Leslie Adams' Grand March for Trumpet and Piano. My partner on the trumpet is Etienne Massicotte, and this premiere was given on September 26, 2021 in Rocky River, OH under the auspices of the Cleveland American Guild of Organists chapter. This was a great way to kick off my busy fall 2021 performance season!

When I'm not premiering new brass works, I'm most often found collaborating with classical singers. Here is "Now sleeps the crimson petal" by British composer Roger Quilter, performed with my friend and bass-baritone Drew Comer. Drew has already been cast in several mainstage opera productions at IU and will only be more in demand in the future. I've found that this particular recording has gained quite a "following" on YouTube, since it now appears on several young bass-baritones' curated repertoire listening lists!
This selection is "Le secret" by French 19th-century composer Gabriel Fauré, performed with my friend and mezzo-soprano (in my opinion, possibly a young contralto) Krista Schaarschmidt. Fun fact: this recording was featured on the IU Graduate & Professional Student Organization's university-wide radio station as the "Song of the Week" a few months after this recital!
And now for something completely different. This is Steve Reich's recent arrangement of Stephen Sondheim's "Finishing the Hat," from Sunday in the Park with George, for two pianos, with Jason Jedlicka (now my fiancé). This was performed live in Auer Hall at IU. To my knowledge, we were the first duo, aside from the original commissioner (Anthony de Mare) and his duo partner, to perform the work.
