Announcement: the next Teaching the Hypermobile Piano Student group class will take place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 11:30am-12:45pm Eastern US Time. Please feel free to visit the hypermobility technique course information page to be kept in the loop about this and future class sessions, and I'm always open to scheduling a masterclass with you and any individual students who need hypermobility-specific technique instruction.

We've known for centuries that teen and adult musicians learn differently, and have different goals, than children do. However, very few studio music teachers both specialize in this growing student demographic and have extensive online teaching experience. Nicole E. DiPaolo, who has welcomed online students in private and university settings since 2015, is that rare teacher. This is why Studio DiPaolo has become a premier teen and adult specialist private studio offering convenient yet intensive online instruction - from beginner to conservatory level - in piano, collaborative piano, music theory, and classical composition, including partimento and historical improvisation studies. Please note that slots are currently limited and Fridays are currently closed to new enrollments.

Learners from all over the world and of any level (generally age 10+ with limited exceptions for extremely advanced younger students) may join Studio DiPaolo via Google Meet or Forte technology, as long as they have a suitable home/campus instrument and reliable Internet access. Ms. DiPaolo combines a friendly and supportive atmosphere with high musical standards and offers instruction in either English or Spanish. Current members of Studio DiPaolo range from complete beginners fulfilling a lifelong dream of studying the piano to Juilliard and Mannes graduates continuing their musical growth to enhance their professional careers.

Ms. DiPaolo also designs and runs live group webinar courses for teachers on topics like teaching the genetically hypermobile piano student, figured bass without Roman numeral intrusion for new partimento and basso continuo students, the Hungarian technique tradition, and other topics of special expertise. Please reach out via the Contact form to join the interest list for any of these courses.

In addition, Ms. DiPaolo also offers guest clinics and presentations for conservatory and studio programs (online or in person), graduate music theory entrance exam preparation for new master's and doctoral students, performance and composition competition adjudication services, and online instruction and studio marketing coaching for music teachers and composers. Please click on the underlined links to learn more about these features of Studio DiPaolo.

Please feel free to have a look around, click on "Menu" above (or the down arrow next to the header if you're on a mobile device) to see what Studio DiPaolo offers, and enjoy your visit.

A few Testimonials

"I've been getting composition lessons for a few months with Nicole and found the lessons extremely valuable. Been playing music for a long time but this is a whole new avenue for me and Nicole has been extremely informative and supportive. Thanks Nicole."
- C., Composition Student

"I am so grateful to you for being such a great instructor for [student]; she picked up techniques, theory. Moreover, you have been very flexible and understanding."
- M., Piano Parent

"I passed the test- he said that I was very well prepared! Thank you for all you help this year."
- J., Keyboard Proficiency Prep Student

"I have [two sons] that were looking forward to piano lessons. They are being taught by [colleague] and Nicole. Both ladies work with my boys uniquely, and are teaching them songs right away as well as proper technique. This keeps them interested but also advancing much quicker than I expected! The boys are having much more fun than they ever imagined!"
- T., Piano Parent

"I have been taking piano lessons with Nicole for about six months. Nicole customized my lesson plan, taking into consideration my skill level when I first approached her (adult beginner), where I wanted to go (recreational classical pianist for personal enjoyment), and what my work/life balance was (too much work, not enough life). Nicole teaches me the fundamentals and technique, but she also exposes me to classical music that I had never experienced before, complete with the history behind the composer and compositions. I have made tremendous progress under her tutelage, and I’m playing pieces I wouldn’t have imagined six months ago. I’m giving five stars and two thumbs up for Nicole!"
- J., Piano Student

"This helps out a lot.  I can't believe how much tension and strain I was playing with! Your the best." - C., University Piano Major & Private Student

"Nicole amazes me since I met her the first time. The depth of her knowledge and the way she plays around naturally with music is a rare gift."
- A., Piano and Music Theory Colleague

"Prof. DiPaolo is a wonderful professor."
- A., Music Theory Colleague and Supervisor
